Ken Burton

Studio 6

I am a woodworker, furniture maker, sculptor, artist, teacher, and part-time rascal. I have been making things from wood since my father gave me a set of real tools when I was six years old. Since then, I have gotten somewhat better at it.

My work ranges from fully functional contemporary furniture to purely aesthetic sculpture. I particularly enjoy making mirrors and have a lot of fun, new ones to share this fall. Along with my larger pieces I also make a variety of food-related wares and smaller gift items—art for everyday use.

I truly believe that using handmade items improves everyone’s life. Whether you are buying for yourself or to give as a gift there is a deeper meaning in the handmade. You are acquiring a small piece of another human being’s life…an item made honestly and deliberately, with great thought and care…an item meant to last, be cherished, and even be handed down to the next generation.

I look forward to meeting you in person and sharing my work with you.
