Hand Woven Items and Hand Painted Silk Scarves

My interest in textiles began years ago when a high school art teacher gave the class a simple weaving project on a back-strap loom. It sparked my interest and from there I continued to learn about different types of looms, weave structures and textiles. One thing led to another and I also began to experiment with various dye techniques for painted warps, dyed fabrics and hand painted silk. Much of my work is focused on making scarves, either woven or hand- painted, as they become an interesting piece of wearable art. My woven pieces are often done in rayon chenille, tencel or bamboo as these yarns tend to have a soft hand, lovely drape and nice, rich color. I work out of my home studio in Quakertown and I am honored to have been a part of the Hidden Treasures Studio Tour for many years.
